  Children’s Snow Camp!

Ecoplus organizes Children’s Snow Camp in Shimizu village in Minamiuonuma-shi, Nigata Prefecture on March 20th – 22nd , 2010. Shimizu villagers will teach us plays and wisdom for living in a snow country.

You will live in tents on the snow.

Body


You will experience nature and culture of Shimizu village with 4m snow in winter located at 650 m in elevation at the foot of Mt. Makihata. In this program, you will learn the relationship between nature and people, and connection between lives of city and farming communities, as well as eco-system.

TAKANO Takako, Executive Director of ECOPLUS, who has diverse experiences of Arctic expeditions, Siberian trip, etc. will support the safety of activities.

This is a popular annual program that many from Kansai and Chubu areas as well as Minamiuonuma locals have participated.

We welcome novices in camping with a lot of snow and cool people of Shimizu village.

Date:
March 20th (Sat) – 22nd (Mon/national holiday), 2 nights 3 days, staying in tents on snow fields.

Place:
Shimizu village, Minamiuonuma-shi, Nigata

Purpose:
To learn about snow thoroughly
To live and play cooperatively without relying on adults
To explore the connection between living and nature

Activities:
Plays on snow, Japanese snow-shoe hiking, Dynamic sliding, Making a living place with snow, Snow country life experience

Target:
15 boys and girls from 5th grade to 10th grade,
+Previous camp experiences are not required.
+Please ask for handicapped persons.

Participation Fee:
¥7,000, including 2 nights staying in tents, 6 meals from dinner on 20th, and insurance
+Fee does not include transportation to the site
+Rental gears are available with fee:
-Sleeping bag: ¥2,500
-Sleeping mat: ¥500
-Boots: ¥500
